We are excited to announce that our opening day will be Tuesday 12/20. We will be opening Drifter and Black Bear trails with lift access on B & E lift. Lift tickets will be sold for just $15 each and we will be open from 9am to 10pm.
I’m sure that you’re asking yourself.. Why only two trails? Well, I’ve got some answers…. Plain and simple, the weather has been uncooperative. You might already know about the wet bulb chart, if not, the wet bulb chart helps us to determine what conditions are needed for optimal snowmaking. The wet bulb chart indicates temperature and humidity requirements, however it does not note ground water temperatures. It is imperative to have low humidity, low air temps and low ground water temps in order to produce excellent snow.
Fortunately our snowmaking team has been hard at work making snow whenever weather conditions permit. This weekend, we knew that they would be able to pump out enough snow to open a few trails, not the entire mountain. Because we anticipated this, our team focused on opening two trails, so that we would have something to offer our guests instead of nothing.
Happily, they have been able to produce enough snow for thin coverage on Drifter and Black Bear with variable conditions. So, if you decide to join us on the mountain tomorrow, leave your new skis and boards at home and enjoy some turns while you can.
