MACUNGIE, PA. -- The Lehigh Valley’s only Cheese Rolling contest, sponsored by radio station The Hawk 99.9 will be held on September 11, 2011 at 2pm at Bear Creek Mountain Resort and Conference Center on the bank above the pond. The contest will be held in combination with the Cheese, Garlic and Folk Festival, running from 11am-5pm. Both events will be held rain or shine.
Participants will race after a wheel of cheese that is rolled down a hill. The first competitor to catch the cheese and cross the finish line wins the cheese. Prizes will be given to the participant who dresses in the best garlic or cheese themed costume.
Adult tickets are available for $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Participants must be at least 18 years of age to enter and must sign a liability release. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.bcmountainresort.com, over the phone at 1-866-754-2822 or in person at The Hotel at Bear Creek.
All participants must register for the contest on September 11 between the hours of 11am and 1:30pm in the Guest Services Lobby. Participants must have a ticket to register for the contest on the day of the event. Tickets for the Cheese Rolling will also include entry to the Cheese, Garlic and Folk Festival.
The Hotel at Bear Creek is offering a Cheese, Garlic & Folk Festival overnight package. Starting at just $85 per person, this package is based on double occupancy and includes an overnight stay at The Hotel at Bear Creek, a Welcome Gift, two tickets for the Cheese, Garlic & Folk Festival and breakfast for two at the Trail’s End Café.
