BEAR CREEK HOSTS THE WINTER SHOWDOWN SERIES

January 22, 2012

MACUNGIE, PA. – The Winter Showdown Competition series is returning to Bear Creek for a second year on Sunday 1/29. The series consists of three separate competitions; a Rail Jam on 1/29, Big Air on 2/12 and a Slopestyle competition on 2/26. Top competitors from each event will compete for the overall series title.

Rail Jam – January 29, 2012
Accepting up to 100 competitors, they will converge on a set-up of multiple rails/features.  The event will
be constructed in our base area and it will be held as a "JAM" format. The top five spots will be awarded points towards the overall series winner, the top three will receive prizes.

Big Air – February 12, 2012
Accepting up to 100 competitors, they will ride our Big Air set-up on our Cascade trail. Each competitor will get two attempts to demonstrate the biggest single trick.  Competitors will be judged on both attempts and the highest score will count. Top competitors will advance to the final round. The final round will give competitors two additional attempts, scores will be combined and the top five competitors will be awarded points towards the overall series winner, the top three will receive prizes.

Slope Style – February 26, 2012
Accepting up to 100 competitors, they will compete on a Slopestyle setup on our Black Bear trail. Competitors will have two attempts on one of two set-ups. Competitors will be judged on both attempts and the highest score will be counted. Top competitors will advance to the final round. Competitors in the final round will be given two additional attempts, scores will be combined and the top five spots will be awarded points towards an overall series winner, the top three will receive prizes.

At the conclusion of the Slopestyle competition, three competitors with the highest overall series points will be awarded cash prizes totaling $3000.  First will receive $750, Second will receive $450, Third will Receive $300.  Additional series prizes will be awarded to other top competitors courtesy of our sponsors.

BEAR CREEK TO HOST 80’s NIGHT PARTY 1/27

MACUNGIE, PA. ? We’re bringing back the 80’s, on Friday January 27, Bear Creek will be hosting an 80’s party night in the lodge from 7 to 10pm. The party will include 80’s music, giveaways and an 80’s themed costume contest. Prizes will be distributed for best female, best male and overall best 80’s costume.

BEAR CREEK TO HOST NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY

MACUNGIE, PA. ? Ring in 2012 at the free, family-friendly New Year’s Eve party at Bear Creek Bear Creek Mountain Resort The party from 7pm-1am and will be held outdoors in the base area and inside our spacious lodge.

Party guests can to wrestle Father Winter in a sumo suit, watch an ice carving demonstration, rock out to music by DJ Carrie and play tissue paper snowball games. Festive drinks will be available for purchase at the outdoor ice bar and at the indoor children’s mocktail bar. Free party accessories will be distributed with purchase at the Mountain Eatery. Light-up cups will be available for purchase.

The Grille at Bear Creek and the Trail’s End Café Bar will be operating on regular hours.

BEAR CREEK MOUNTAIN RESORT WILL RE-OPEN FOR SKIING AND RIDING MONDAY 1/2/12

MACUNGIE, PA – Bear Creek Mountain Resort has taken advantage of the cold temperatures and will re-open for skiing and riding on Monday, January 2 at 9am with limited terrain. Lift tickets will be sold for just $5 all day and the mountain will operate with regular hours of operation. All proceeds from lift ticket sales on Monday will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown. 

Bear Creek will open a hike park at the bottom of Black Bear and Drifter trails with service on E lift.
