Socially Distanced Activities During COVID

Arialle Hess
No one was immune to the onset of COVID-19 that turned everyone’s world upside-down. Since March, people have been jury-rigging their lives back into function, but with constant changes and an incalculable amount of information being thrown at us daily, the future is as uncertain as...well...the future! This upheaval affected all aspects of life, but amidst these challenging times Bear Creek is striving to provide guests with various outdoor activities that can be safely enjoyed. The resort’s Ever Strong program expands to cover outdoor activities and events, so our guests and visitors know that our attention to detail is their peace of mind.
Group Hike

Hiking & Biking Trails

Bear Creek has over seven (7) miles of hiking and biking trails for our hotel guests or Mountain Activity Pass holders to enjoy. Explore various types of terrain that lead you to spectacular views of the local area. Even though the trails are shared by both hikers and cyclists, there is plenty of room to avoid any close contact when necessary. Over the past two years, the resort has also added additional biking trails, adding even more versatility to the diverse trail system. With the seasonal shift right around the corner, take some time off and enjoy the beautiful PA fall foliage.
Pond Kayaks

Pond Activities

There is no better place to enjoy those cool fall mornings than from the water. The pond at Bear Creek has kayaks, paddle boats, and paddle boards available for hotel guests. The pond is large enough for all equipment to safely be in use simultaneously, so physical distancing is easy to maintain while taking in the fresh air. The resort takes great care to sanitize equipment, including the boats, life jackets, oars, etc. and also provides sanitizing stations for guests as well. If we all do our part to keep our surroundings clean and safe, everyone will have the chance to enjoy the great outdoors!
Axe Throwing

Ax Throwing & Archery

Among favorite activities are ax throwing and archery target shooting. They are exciting for kids and fun for adults, making them great family activities. A guide is provided to assist with equipment usage and safety guidelines. Ax throwing and archery are available for hotel guests to purchase on select days. Just stop by the front desk to get started with a friendly competition, or just have fun honing a new skill. (Activities will no longer be offered after 10/25/20.)

Fire Pit & Lawn Games

Soak in what’s left of those warm rays by spending the afternoon playing lawn games. Bear Creek offers a variety of lawn games that are spaced out across the base area, from horseshoes and quoits, to corn hole and ladder ball. After dinner, dive head first into sweater weather by scheduling a private fire pit session on Thursday or Saturday evenings, where you can relax and make your own s’mores. By scheduling session times, the outdoors can be a perfect way to enjoy time with friends and family while adhering to current safety guidelines. (Activities will no longer be offered after 10/25/20.)
In addition to the aforementioned outdoor activities, hotel guests also have access to the outdoor hot tub, pool and disc golf course.
The resort has always been naturally inclined to utilize its space for outdoor activities year round. Most guests are familiar with winter sports and festivals, but Bear Creek can still safely offer plenty of activities to those looking for a chance to get outside during these times of uncertainty. Physical distancing has been a challenge in certain areas of our lives over the past six months, but Bear Creek is striving to make it a bit easier to resume some sort of ‘normal’ in this chaotic world.
If you are looking for things to do outside this fall, put Bear Creek on your list of resorts to visit.
