Happy Holidays everyone! If you are looking for a great winter escape during the holiday break, we have just the thing!
Today Assistant Snowmaking Manager Kevin Jennings will share updates on Bear Creek's slope conditions and snowmaking plans for the holiday week.
Q: How was the weather last night?
A: It was a very calm, cold and dry evening with wet-bulb temps of 11°-13° and humidity hovering at around 46%.
Q: Since these are optimal snowmaking temps, how did the production go?
A: We doubled our production from Monday evening by putting down 2.3 million gallons in 8 hours of total run time. The system really responds well to these conditions and we are continuing to build our base and put piles of snow throughout the mountain.
Q: Will the forecasted temps this week be too low?
A: For what we are going to see over the next few days, no. These incredibly low forecasted temps are allowing us to customize our scheduled production runs which gives us operational efficiency as well as quality snow.
Q: Will the mobile snow guns be moved onto other runs?
A: The majority of the slopes are in great shape, so we will probably be comfortable moving some mobile units to areas that are not open yet. We will begin to make snow in the section of Lower Cascade (next to tubing) tonight. We will keep you posted on when that will be open.
