State Rep Mackenzie will be Honored 'First Chair' Guest
Macungie, Pa.– Bear Creek Mountain Resort (Bear Creek) is celebrating its 21st ski season with opening day set for Monday, December 21, 2020. To help kick off the 20/21 winter season, State Representative of the 134th legislative district Ryan Mackenzie will be the honored ‘first chair’ guest.
“We are honored to have State Representative Ryan Mackenzie as our ‘first chair’ guest,” said Erin Visco, general manager of Bear Creek. “We appreciate all he is doing to protect and support the hospitality industry in Pennsylvania.”
As a part of the Pennsylvania hospitality industry, which employs more than 700,000 Pennsylvanians and contributes more than $40 Billion annually to the state economy, Bear Creek seeks to highlight the extraordinary efforts they, and other Pennsylvania resort operators, hoteliers and restauranteurs, are taking to provide peace of mind for thousands as they enjoy out-of-home activities.
“The health and well-being of our guests and team members is our absolute first priority. This year we introduced EVER STRONG - a comprehensive health and safety program based on four pillars; Physical Distancing & Face Coverings, Cleanliness, Rapid Response and Active Monitoring,” said Erin Visco.
Bear Creek employs more than 200 full-time team members, but during ski season that number increases to more than 900. Providing opportunities, training, support, and a positive culture to employees is a huge undertaking, but one the Bear Creek team works hard to deliver on.
As Bear Creek prepares to responsibly open its winter sports business, the resort’s obligation to the well-being of its guests has been reflected in its. The first week of the 20/21 winter season will be open exclusively for season pass holders and hotel guests. The Lodge and Mountain Eatery will only be available for restrooms and take-out food service, due to state and local restrictions. All other amenities, including lockers, basket check, seating, and game room, will not be available.
The resort has also added a new e-commerce platform for online purchasing to reduce contact points. This plan came into fruition by participating in countless discussions with the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) and ski resorts across America.
“We have implemented the NSAA Ski Well Be Well program and our own EVENT STRONG program to safely host meetings and events once local restrictions allow. Combined, these programs work to assist and guide guests and team members through their entire experience at the resort,” said Erin Visco.
Despite fluctuating state-mandated restrictions, Bear Creek is remaining one step ahead by keeping health and safety at the forefront of every decision, while continuing to provide the extraordinary guest experience that has become its hallmark. With continued assistance from State Representative Ryan Mackenzie, as well as the resort’s parent company, Southern Management, the Bear Creek team is confident there are better days ahead for the hospitality industry.
