The Bear Creek Challenge 2019

Macungie, Pa. – On Sunday, June 2nd Bear Creek will host its annual cross-country mountain bike race. The Bear Creek Challenge was home of the 2013 & 2014 Mountain Bike National Championships and the resort continues to leave its fingerprint in the mountain biking world by hosting annual races in the MASS series. With 330 acres of land, the resort utilizes the wooded area outside of ski season by building various styles of mountain biking trails for both recreational and competitive use. All race events are rain or shine, but will be cancelled due to severe thunderstorms.

“Everyone is excited for the annual Bear Creek Challenge race,” says Arialle Hess, 2018 XC race participant.  “With over 6 miles of hiking and biking trails, the resort has the land and staff to redesign the course every year. Bear Creek’s trails are amongst the most challenging in the area, but the race atmosphere on 330 acres of beautiful resort property is unlike any other. The hotel and dining options also provide a convenience for racers traveling from afar.”

The 2019 race course will be a 5-mile mapped route on which riders pedal between 1-3 laps. This year, Cat 3 and 4 riders will ride a less technical course, while Cat 1, 2 and Pro will race the entire course. Riders can pre-register on BikeReg.com for $40, or $50 day-of at the resort. Spectators are welcome to this event. The resort also welcomes guests to use the trail system for recreational use with a valid Mountain Activity Pass. The pass includes the hiking and biking trails, along with the disc golf course. Visit BCMR.com to learn more about how to obtain a Mountain Activity Pass.
