WOMEN FROM ACROSS THE REGION PREPARE TO CELEBRATE UPCOMING NATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH WITH DAY ON THE SLOPES AT BEAR CREEK MOUNTAIN RESORT

Female ski jumper Liz Mezzetti will share her career path as a competitive skier to business executive with aspiring female skiers in recognition of National Women’s Month at Bear Creek Mountain Resort on Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at the starting line on the slopes. Mezzetti will meet with Bear Creek Mountain Resort’s Female Racers, a group of young women hoping to excel in downhill ski events.

“As part of National Women’s Month, we’re excited to welcome Liz to Bear Creek. She has done so much for women in the sport by opening doors and creating more opportunities in competitive skiing,” said Erin Visco, General Manager, Bear Creek Mountain Resort. “Our young female racers are looking forward to meeting her and getting some tips and pointers as they grow their skills.”

Mezzetti, recognized as a premier athlete who helped shape and lead female participation in ski jumping, will hand out the awards at the conclusion of the race (approximately 2:30 p.m.) in the Mountain Courtyard. Currently, the Director of Sales and Marketing for New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority in Lake Placid, NY, Mezzetti will also meet guests and share stories and present some of her memorabilia after the award ceremony.

The former competitor serves as a role model for aspiring young female skiers, as for many years, regardless of their fierce ability and naturally competitive spirit, women had been overlooked and underrated by the male-dominated elite of the sport.

Mezzetti is a lifelong skier who navigated to Lake Placid to compete on the Women’s Ski Jumping Team. Today, she is the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Olympic Authority, which operates Whiteface, Gore, and Belleayre ski resorts and the Lake Placid Olympic Venues. She has 23 years of experience in ski resort revenue management, sport venue programming, events, and diving into many different roles within the sport and tourism industry. She is a strategic and results-driven professional who believes in inspiring teams, cultivating strategic alliances, and leading a vision grounded in data.
