Things to do this Summer at Bear Creek Mountain Resort

Arialle Hess
As the state ramps up its efforts to reopen, summer events in PA are starting to fill up people’s planners once again. With plenty of outdoor space and a comprehensive cleaning program, Bear Creek is excited to invite guests onto its property for some much needed outdoor fun.
By following all necessary precautions, summer events for 2021 will hopefully be here to stay. So, if you’re looking for things to do, Bear Creek has a calendar full of festivals, weekend-warrior events, and daily activities that are great for getting out of the house during the week.

Outdoor Concerts

Revamped but still the same great experience is Bear Creek’s live music performances. Starting on May 23rd, Frog Holler will be kicking off the Sunday Night Concert Series that will last throughout the summer. This outdoor live music event is on the calendar almost every Sunday evening from 6-9pm. Sunday Night Concerts are FREE to the public and the resort’s signature restaurant, The Grille, will also have outdoor dining available for you to grab a bite if you want dinner and a show.

Festivals are finally back in action! Sitting upon 330 acres of mountain landscape, there is plenty of room at Bear Creek to safely host festivals for all to enjoy.

Wine Festivals

Many folks have attended wine festivals in PA in previous years, and Bear Creek’s festival was a bucket-list destination among them. This year, the resort will contribute once again to the sipping soirees with a Summer Wine Festival on Sunday, July 18th and a Harvest Wine Festival scheduled for Sunday, November 21st. Tickets are currently on sale for the Summer Wine Festival at $25 per person. Your designated driver can also join the festivities sans alcohol for $5 per person.

Berks Fiddle Fest

It’s official! The local-favorite Lyons Fiddle Fest is moving to Bear Creek on Sunday, September 19th under a new name; Berks Fiddle Fest. After a devastating year with natural disasters, this festival needed to find a new home. Luckily, they partnered up with a near-by 330-acre resort for this year’s event. Sitting on the edge of both counties, Bear Creek hopes to attract additional guests from the Lehigh Valley to experience this ever-growing event that hits home to Berks County residents.

Outdoor Dining

With warm summer nights right around the corner, The Grille at Bear Creek is getting ready for outdoor dining. Although a year-round spot for the Macungie locals, the resort’s signature restaurant is best-known for its al fresco dining with unmatched mountain scenery that attracts guests from both Lehigh and Berks Counties. The official start date is May 10th, so you don’t have to wait until summer to dine outdoors. The Grille makes a relaxing evening away from the ordinary any time of year.

Bear Creek sits upon 330 acres that are cultivated for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as hiking and biking in the summer. This year, the resort plans on hosting its annual mountain bike races once again, along with other endurance competitions.

XC Challenge

The kick-off to the MASS race series will be Bear Creek’s XC Challenge race on Sunday, June 6th. Pros leave the start at 9am, while other race categories prepare for their start times throughout the day. This cross-country mountain bike race has multiple courses that cater to pros as well as first-timers. Registration is now live at

XC Night Race

In similar style to the XC race, Bear Creek also seeks to host a night race on Friday, August 6th from 7-11pm. The race takes place under the slope lights, but all racers must bring their own lights to help pave their way to the finish line. This is another chance for racers to snag points in the 2021 MASS race series.

Off-Road Endurance Festival by Steelman Racing

On Sunday, August 29th Bear Creek will be the host mountain to a reputable endurance race put on by Steelman Racing. The annual Off-road Endurance Festival welcomes a variety of endurance athletes to test their skills. Athletes can choose from a sprint distance off-road Tri, sprint distance off-road Duathlon, sprint distance off-road Aqua Bike, 5k trail run or 10k trail run.
Steelman Racing hosts a variety of endurance races throughout the summer including open water swimming events, trail running events (currently sold out), as well as the Steelman Olympic and sprint triathlons.

If you’re looking for some family-fun during the week, make the Mountain Activity Center at Bear Creek your weekday destination. Ax throwing and archery are clear winners among the kids. With complete instruction and all equipment, these activities are safe and fun for everyone. The resort also brought back Monday Night Yoga, and even has some more things in the works for the summer…
The Mountain Activity Center is located in the lodge plaza. It's a central location where all outdoor activities can be found; making the navigation around the resort premise easier for guests.
